Copywriting for Creative Industries

You make your art. I’ll write about it.

As a creative, you don’t want to spend your time fiddling with email funnels or figuring out which ads will drive engagement. You want to make your art.

But to grow your business, you need a strong voice–and you need it to reach the right people.

That’s where I come in. As a seasoned writer who has told over 100 brands’ stories, I combine focused marketing strategy with a deep understanding of your craft to help you stand out from the crowd.

Having the perspective to write about your own craft is tricky—especially when you’re in the trenches with it, doing the work every day.

I serve as an outside perspective and strategic partner whose goal is to get to the bottom of your unique approach.

My superpower? Persistent curiosity about what makes your brand singular.

Once I do all the research and nail down your differentiators (which you may or may not already know), I translate them into clear, compelling language that builds trust, drives engagement, and inspires your audience to act.

"Emma has the wonderful ability of taking my scribbled notes, call recordings, and task descriptions and turning them into content that really captures the client’s voice. She’s worked on everything from Instagram captions for interior design clients to educational blogs on estate planning, and her versatility always shines through.

One time, a different contractor wrote a newsletter, but the client immediately noticed it wasn’t Emma’s work and specifically asked for ‘Emma’s version’ next time because they love her voice. She is a joy to work with."

A few ways I’ve made an impact for brands like yours:

  • Helping an architect quit his day job.

I crafted website copy and some initial blog content that enabled the architect to land two huge clients—and commit to going full-time with his own firm.

  • Positioning a luxury lifestyle brand.

After evaluating the company’s goals and business climate, I wrote a custom brand guide that established a luxurious yet personable voice to support engagement.

  • Reimagining an interior designer’s messaging.

I led a brand strategy session that resulted in clearer, more streamlined service offerings and a well-defined personal brand to help the designer stand out in her industry. From this strong foundation, I wrote homepage copy designed to connect and convert.

Stop throwing (verbal) spaghetti at the wall.

Your messaging should move your audience just like your craft does. I design memorable messaging and strategic campaigns that authentically represent your work, turn lukewarm leads into devoted fans, and generate momentum for your business.

Shoot me a message and let’s explore how I can get more eyeballs on—and engagement with—your one-of-a-kind work.

Let’s Chat (FAQs)

  • Simply send me a message and tell me a little about your brand. I’ll be in touch shortly!

  • A writer has many things AI doesn’t: empathy, human understanding, and intuition about the nuances of language, psychology, and society. A writer crafts completely original work, while AI finds patterns from preexisting content and generates words from it. Sure, using ChatGPT may be faster and cheaper than hiring a writer, but to truly distinguish your brand from your competition, a human is your best bet.

Let’s talk examples. Say you’re an interior design firm who needs website copy.

AI will generate polished platitudes about “bringing your vision to life” and “balancing aesthetics with functionality.” Here’s a line ChatGPT gave me when prompted:

“Our portfolio spans private residences, penthouses, and boutique developments—each one marked by restraint, sophistication, and intentional beauty.”

Nothing atrocious, but it’s a mouthful. And not anything special.

A human, however, can have actual conversations with you about your craft and ask follow-up questions. They can connect the dots between your business goals, ideal audience, and brand voice in ways that would go over AI’s “head.” Maybe they’d write:

“We embrace the unexpected and shy away from what’s traditional. Because your space should be as iconic as your favorite pajamas.”

Which do you think is more memorable?

  • The main goal of copywriting is to make sales or otherwise convince a user to take immediate action (like signing up for a newsletter). Content writing, on the other hand, is all about attracting an audience and earning their trust, loyalty, and admiration over time.

So while a copywriter might craft a billboard designed to generate sales, a content writer might produce an article that provides value—with no strings attached. In the customer journey, content writing supports the beginning stages of awareness and consideration, where copywriting drives conversions in the purchase stage.

Here’s another way to think about it: copywriting is a short-term strategy where content writing plays the long game. Because the goal of copywriting is to generate sales, the results are easier to measure, though this doesn’t make content writing any less valuable.

Along those same lines, copywriting usually involves shorter pieces while content is generally longer.

For example, a copywriter might craft:

    • Sales pages

    • Advertisements

    • Email campaigns

    • Direct mail letters

    • Product descriptions

And a content writer would create:

    • Articles

    • Blog posts

    • White papers

    • Press releases

    • Ebooks

I specialize in both copywriting and content writing–meaning I can support your business at every stage of the customer journey.

  • Yes. Let’s set up a meeting to discuss your long-term needs and what a retainer partnership might look like. Just shoot me a message to get the ball rolling.

  • I do! I have a variety of experience from ghostwriting newsletters and LinkedIn posts to developing longer book-length projects.

Whether you’re an executive, public figure, or thought leader in your niche, I’d love to connect about how we can put your voice out there.

  • Absolutely. Just send me a message, tell me a little about your brand, and I’ll provide a private link to a tailored portfolio.

  • Yes. I’ve partnered with a handful of agencies to write for clients in the interior design, architecture, and hospitality industries, among others.

I integrate seamlessly into your agency’s workflow, so both you and your clients can continue to reach your goals.

  • Not to worry—I can still help you out. Creative brands are my bread and butter, but I also vibe with companies in complex industries. My inner nerd enjoys translating dense topics into easy-to-digest, targeted language that drives results.

In the past, I’ve written for a variety of brands across finance, healthcare, and technology, to name a few.
